Why it matters

Ambrogio Soracco and his brothers Giovanni and Giuseppe, who came from Italy's Liguria region in 1907, opened the bakery in 1911. Ambrogio's grandson Michael Soracco runs it today, and Tasting Table reports the family still uses the same antique mixer and brick oven.

A fire in the oven and kitchen on August 4, 2023 closed the bakery for about four and a half months. It reopened on December 19, 2023.
